SKU: M001 Categories: ,

This Peter Williams’ painting is in good condition, comes framed. The frame has an intentionally distressed look. The paper that covers the back of the frame has some cuts (see the last picture). That in no way impacts the canvas/frame as it’s in the back and can be replaced if desired.

Unsure about the title or the year of production. The artist has been visiting the Saratoga Springs racetrack since 1982 and throughout 2000s. He was also a resident artist.

About the artist:
New Zealand-born artist Peter Williams, a beloved and familiar figure in the paddocks of the most famous racetracks and sporting events around the world, died at the age of 84 on August 13, 2018. He attributed his ability in painting to the late Douglas Badcock, the most outstanding New Zealand impressionist. Peter Williams’ mentoring began in the 1960s.

His work is timeless and brought happiness to so many people — quite literally from paupers to princes. Whether it was amazement at watching his art unfold (seemingly effortlessly) as he painted by the side of the road or in the paddock, or the thrill purchasing one of his works brought, there was a measure of joy in all he created.
