This piece features a unique, organic texture, looking like a spiderweb. This effect is called ‘crazing’, and it occurs when tiny hairline cracks form in the glaze as it sets. These cracks only affect the surface of the glaze, but can be vulnerable to staining from certain foods – particularly acidic or highly pigmented ones.
Fired in an electric kiln at 2200°F/1204°C.
